One doesn’t just decide to stop what they are doing and hit the road in a camper… or do they? They do! Sorta of. Here’s what happened. . .
Rian and I have had quite a few holidays through out Central America and have had the best times! However after each trip we just felt like we need moooore time. More time to explore and really take in places, and if we didn’t have to lug around a back pack that would be great. The seed was planted. . . .
So we continued working and brainstorming. We decided yachting was great, but we needed a break and a new opportunity. How would we find that opportunity and where would it be? Well, we figured why not explore Central America in a truck camper to see if there is something there for us!
We wrapped up our last season on board and returned to Fort Lauderdale with the boat. While we were there we bought a truck, packed it up and put it in storage. We flew to Nicaragua for a month of Spanish lessons, homestay and a little holiday celebration. We returned back to Florida, picked up our truck and headed to Rhode Island for an epic summer. We found an awesome deal on New Hampshires craigslist and bought a truck camper. It was on! We planned our holiday back to Australia for Christmas with a few stops in the Philippines, Vietnam and Bali. We figured before we started this big adventure we had to make sure we saw all of our families. We booked our flight out of Las Vegas for November 4th, 2016 and took a little over a month to drive from Rhode Island to Las Vegas.
After we decided we wanted to travel Central America in a truck camper everything seemed to fall exactly in place. Life can be good like that.
You may be asking, “what new opportunity are you exactly looking for?”. Well that is the question at hand. Maybe that opportunity will be the best adventure of our lives, new friendships, a puppy, a job, a hotel or B&B we can make our own, or maybe all of it! We can only try and find out! With that in mind Rian and I created Keep To The Coast because first, we love the ocean and second, sometimes in life and on the road you need a general direction and route. Keeping our hopes and dreams in mind, Rian and I will be traveling Central America via the coast. And don’t worry we’ll make it inland a bit as well! We are super excited to explore, meet new people and do what we want!
